DevOps Engineer

Manchester - Permanent

Reporting to Head of DevOps

£ - Competitive, depending upon experience

Description:

This is a challenging and varied junior-level role with the following focus areas:

focus areas:
  • 1nd & 2nd Line Support for End Customers, Resellers & Wholesale Partners.
  • Trouble shooting of all network and customer faults.
  • Working with the maintenance teams, vendors and carriers to organise and request scheduled outages.
  • Ensuring that all activation and service restoration issues are escalated to the correct level with appropriate fix agencies where required.
  • Provisioning of new customer installs and services.
  • Liaising with Vendors, Carriers and other departments to provide co-ordination for all local gateway issues and activities.
  • Working with end customers to develop technical solutions to their challenges.
  • Provide out of hours support cover on a roster basis
knowledge / preferred skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the IT/Cloud Computing industry is required.
  • DevOps experience and knowledge of Javascript, C#, and PHP
  • Ideally, some experience in telephony applications (Asterisk & Kamailio) & fault debugging
  • IExperience working with End Clients to develop technical solutions to challenges.
  • Competence in the Microsoft suite of Office products.
  • Understanding of IP networks, in particular, IPVPN and MPLS.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to organise self and own workload.
  • Willingness to learn new things and be pushed outside your comfort zone.
  • BPSS Security Screening to be undertaken for this position.
Qualifications:

A good level of education is required - higher qualifications in Computer science a definite advantage.
